Basic details about TNPSC Group 4 Exam


TNPSC Group 4 Age Limit

(Minimum and Maximum age Limit to apply for TNPSC Group 4 Exam Should be as on 1st July of Notification Year)

Minimum Age Limit :   18 Years for all categories

Maximum Age Limit
  • TNPSC Group 4 Age Limit for SC / SC(A) / ST/  Destitute Widows of all castes – 35 Years
  • TNPSC Group 4 Age Limit for MBC /  BC / BCM   32 Years
  • TNPSC Group 4 Age Limit for Others   30 Years
  • For the persons who are trained in Survey in ITI in Tamil Nadu, in respect of posts of Field Surveyor and Draftsman only  35 Years

TNPSC Group 4 Age Limit Exceptions / Concision Details

(1)No maximum age limit for candidates belong to SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC/BC/BCM communities who have higher educational qualification than minimum educational qualification. In TNPSC Group 4 Exam, minimum qualification is 10th / SSLC Pass . If the candidates from the above categories have HSC / Degree / Diploma qualification, there will be no maximum age limit for them. 

(2) Not Eligible - “Others” [ i.e., Candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs and BCMs] who have put in 5 years of service in the State / Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.

(3) The Technical and Non-Technical Staff of TANSI who have faced retrenchment and have not been absorbed in the Government / Corporations/ Undertakings may also apply for the Group 4 Exam, if they are otherwise qualified except age. The relevant age rule will be relaxed by the Government in their favour if they come up for selection.
